I’m not sure whether Tomica originally released this as a standard retail model, but this particular version was released as an 이니셜D collaboration model. Even people who have never watched Initial D have probably at least heard of it. It’s also famous for the iconic Eurobeat songs — especially the “Deja Vu~” meme that became popular online.
This Mazda RX-7 is the third-generation model, commonly known as the FD. Development began in 1986, and the car was sold from December 1991 until April 2003 before being discontinued. The FD ended up becoming the final generation of the RX-7 line. As one of the most iconic 1990s JDM sports cars, it gained massive popularity thanks to its rotary engine and lightweight chassis.
In the anime, the car is driven by 타카하시 케이스케. Throughout the series, the vehicle goes through multiple upgrades and tuning changes, but the version released by Tomica specifically represents the tuned FD used during the later RedSuns era, around the battle against 아키야마 와타루.
The tuning setup includes a Mazdaspeed A-Spec Front Bumper Type II, A-Spec Spoiler Type II, MS-02 wheels, a Blitz 2.0 turbo gauge, a Mazdaspeed muffler, and Bride bucket seats.
